  1. In my opinion, Ankor Wat is only worth visiting if you go in the low tourist season. Officially from May-Sept, I personally think that October is would be the best time. Other times of the year, it is filled with Chinese and Korean tourists with perhaps close to 30 tourist buses parked at the gates. I used to live down the street from the archeological park and there were SO MANY tourists! The best time to visit was close to sunset. I would go in around 4.30 and hang around as the tour groups leave, if you have a local guide and have him pay the guards $5 or $10, maybe $20 to let you stay until the sun has gone down; it is well worth it. Sit on the steps and watch the sun go down, it gets eerily silent. On a moonless night is best as you can go off the beaten track and see the full Milky Way galaxy, an even more amazing experience, quite clearly from outside the city on your back to Siem Reap.
