Ali Fedotowsky and fiance Kevin Manno were all set to say ‘I do’ in Mexico but sadly had to scrap those plans.
The former Bachelorette revealed that the recent Zika virus cases south of the border forced the couple to postpone their upcoming nuptials and seek out another location.
Ali, 31, said it’s ‘a huge disappointment’ as she and Kevin, 32, had ‘the most amazing location’ in mind for the ceremony and a mansion that would have accommodated the whole family, she told The Knot.
‘We had to cancel’: Pregnant Ali Fedotowsky has revealed that she and her fiance Kevin Manno cancelled their wedding plans in Mexico due to the recent reports of Zika virus there; she shared this snap on Thursday
‘We were super excited. We found the most amazing location and villa that would allow our entire family to stay with us,’ Ali confessed.
‘Then, all the news broke about the Zika virus and we had to cancel,’ she added.
Zika virus is spread by mosquitos and has been linked to birth defect microcephaly, in which a baby’s head in abnormally smaller than expected.
Back to planning stages: The former Bachelorette star, 31, who is due in July, is working with her wedding planner to find another more desirable location to have the ceremony which will now be after the baby’s born
Dreams dashed: Ali told The Knot, ‘We found the most amazing location’ similar perhaps to this one pictured here but ‘then, all the news broke about the Zika virus and we had to cancel’
Ali, who is eight months pregnant with a baby girl and due on July 13, didn’t want to take such a health risk for her, her unborn child or anyone else for that matter.
‘It was such a huge disappointment,’ Ali continued. ‘Even though we won’t be pregnant when we get married, we just didn’t think it was fair to ask our guests to travel to a location with active Zika virus transmissions.
‘Most of our friends are in “baby mode,” and that just wasn’t a fair ask.’
Fair minded: The mom-to-be explained, ‘We just didn’t think it was fair to ask our guests to travel to a location with active Zika virus transmissions. Most of our friends are in “baby mode”‘; she was pictured May 20
Ali and Kevin, who announed their engagement in September of last year, were initially going to get hitched in January.
‘We actually also planned a wedding in California for January 2016,’ Ali told The Knot. ‘And we ended up pushing that back too because we found out I was pregnant.’
Now with Mexico out of the picture, Ali is meeting with her wedding planner to put together the perfect wedding, although it’s too soon to say much about it
Not long now: Ali cradled her huge bump in this Instagram picture posted Wednesday as plans get underway for the new nuptials where she will drink Champagne
‘I don’t really know anything yet,’ Ali gushed. ‘I’m honestly not a great party planner and I’m just not the type to spend a bunch of time trying to find ways to make our wedding unique.
‘It’s not that important to me to have a “unique” wedding. Don’t get me wrong: I want it to be beautiful, but I don’t feel the need to go out of my way to be different.’
One thing’s for sure – it will be after she has the baby because she wants to drink Champagne.
‘I want to be able to let loose and completely enjoy myself at my wedding,’ she said.
