(Photo : Facebook/ Duggar Family Official ) Jill Duggar does not seem to be taking the Zika virus threat in Central America seriously. She posted an Instagram pic of some bug spray, essentially laughing off the deadly virus.
Jill Duggar and her husband Derick Dillard do not seem to be taking the Zika virus threat seriously. The couple and their infant son Israel are currently in Central America on a mission trip. Many Central American and South American states have issued travel warnings to pregnant women due to the Zika virus which is ravaging the region.
The Zika virus is a mosquito-borne illness which has been linked to microcephaly in newborns. Microcephaly is a condition in which infants are born with abnormally small heads and they are severely underdeveloped and have short lifespans.
A month ago the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued travel warnings across 22 states including Mexico, Colombia, Brazil and El Salvador – the country where Jill and Derick are assumed to be living.
Many people have been wondering if Jill and Derick have been taking precautions in trying to avoid contracting the terrifying virus. Due to their religious beliefs, they are not allowed to take birth control or use any contraceptives. Also, being that Jill comes from a huge brood, hence the title of her former TV show “19 Kids and Counting,” it is likely that she will be trying to get pregnant with another child soon.
But the couple do not seem to be very nervous about the illness and potentially subjugating an infant to the Virus.
Derick recently posted a photo on Instagram that was almost mocking the very real threat of the Zika virus.
It is a photo of himself holding a can of OFF! bug spray alongside another photo of a Central American branch of Walmart.
“I knew I could count on Walmart to have what I need to combat that Zika Virus! #beprepared #zika,” he captioned the photo.
The photo also provides more evidence that the couple are in fact in El Salvador. The supermarket in the photo, La Despensa, is the trade name Walmart operates under in El Salvador, reports Inquisitr.
El Salvador issued a pregnancy ban over the next two years to avoid the spread of the virus.
Do you think Jill and Derick are being irresponsible by joking about a virus that has caused such devastation?
